Boeing gears up for DOD intelligence demand

Boeing Co. has completed its acquisition of wireless surveillance technology provider Digital Receiver Technology Inc. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The purchase of the company, based in Germantown, Md., which was announced Nov. 14, is part of a plan by the Chicago-based aerospace and defense giant to expand its presence in the intelligence market.

With DRT in its portfolio, Boeing will be better able to meet the needs of its government intelligence customers with respect to improved intelligence gathering, analyzing and sharing tools, company officials said at the time of purchase.

DRT’s digital signal processing products are used by various U.S. government intelligence customers within the Defense and Homeland Security departments. The company has about 370 employees.

Boeing has placed DRT within its Integrated Defense Systems’ Network and Space Systems unit.
