UK troops will get 'throwable' camera
A camera that can be fired from a grenade launcher or thrown manually and that will provide warfighters with a 360 degree view of potentially risky terrain is being developed for UK forces, according to a BBC report.
Data from the wireless I-Ball, one of the winning concepts that came out of the UK Ministry of Defence’s 2007 Competition of Ideas, is processed through a field programmable gate array chip to provide a true real-time image of an area.
Development of the I-Ball, by Scottish company Dreampact, is still in the early stages but MOD officials already see it as an significant new device, particularly for urban operations, the BBC said.
