Lt. Gen. William Shelton nominated to replace Lt. Gen. Michael Peterson

The Defense Department announced recently that Lt. Gen. William Shelton has been renominated for the rank of lieutenant general and nominated to replace Lt. Gen. Michael Peterson as the Air Force’s chief information officer and chief of warfighting integration in the Office of the Secretary of the Air Force.

Peterson, who has served in his current role since November 2005, will retire in February 2009, according to Air Force public affairs. Shelton has been commander of the 14th Air Force, Air Force Space Command, and commander of Joint Functional Component Command for Space at Strategic Command since June 2006.
